Balloon Milkweed
Gomphocarpus Physocarpus, Asclepias Physocarpa
Native to South Africa, balloon milkweed is the host and nectar plant for the Monarch butterfly. They produce balloon like seed pods that are covered in soft bristles that reach about 2 inches in diameter. Once the “balloon” matures it opens up and the seeds can be planted to germinate a new plant.
