Although its native to India, Butterfly Ginger has become the national flower of Cuba because it is so commonly used there. It is often referred to as “mariposa” plant which means butterfly in Spanish. This beautiful tropical plant grows green stalks from thick rhizomes, with long leaves that eventually produce a sweet fragrant white flower that resembles a butterfly.
